Adding Country Profiles

Individual Country Profiles are directories held inside !Remote.Files.ChannelMaps.

Each country directory contains a number of (mostly) zero length files, one for each channel. This is required by !ConfiX so that it may build it's menu structure.

The first file (RISCOS 5, Sort by name) in a country directory is different in that it is not zero length but contains info required by !Remote.

This file is plain text and formatted in the following way.
First line:Country Name, this is the name that will appear in menus
Example: UK
Second line:system<tab>system
Example: system<tab>BG
This is one from the following list of recognised systems

NOTE: You must have suitable hardware for the system you are attempting to use. E.g. a card purchased in the UK will not work in France, (but a card purchased in France will work in the UK and almost anywhere else that uses PAL or SECAM)

Vision and colour standard selection on the Philips SAA7134 is automatic, so this selection is mainly concerned with setting the correct sound parameters
BGThis is the basic mono sound system used in many parts of Western Europe plus Australia and New Zealand
BG-A2As BG but with the addition of stereo sound to the German Zweiton standard. For example, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Australia
BG-NAs BG but with the addition of NICAM stereo sound. For example, Belguim, Finland, Denmark and New Zealand
DK-NMainly Eastern Europe and China NOTE: The details I have for all DK standards are sketchy
DK1Mainly Eastern Europe and China
DK2Mainly Eastern Europe and China
DK3Mainly Eastern Europe and China
IThis is the NICAM stereo standard used in Hong Kong, South Africa and the UK
LThis is the NICAM stereo standard used in France
MMono sound as used in North America, Japan and some parts of South America. (BTSC stereo as used in North America is not supported by the SAA7134 chip)
M-A2This standard is used South Korea
Third and
subsequent lines:
channel number/letter<tab>frequency in kHz
Example: 21<tab>471250
NOTE: Single digit numbers require padding with a leading zero, this is not required where the channel is identified by a single letter.

NOTE: The channel numbers used are as far as possible those assigned by the responsible national body.
The files ends with: EndOfMap<return>

Removing Country Profiles

Any unwanted Country Profiles may be deleted. This will speed up slighty the initial loading of !Remote

NOTE: At least one profile must be present in order for !Remote to function!
